Audi Q7   Controls   adaptive air suspension  Pneumatic suspension and damping
You can adjust the air suspension and damping.
The adaptive air suspension is an electronically controlled spring/shock absorber system. By means of control processes going on in the background it assists the driver and adapts automatically to particular situations when driving.
The air suspension varies the ride height according to the road speed and the driver's requirements. It works independently of the load being carried. The ride height is lowered when the car exceeds a pre-defined speed, and is raised again when the road speed drops below a certain level.
The adaptive damping varies the stiffness of the shock absorbers to suit individual requirements. For example, if the driver selects the comfort setting, the suspension damping is relatively soft and only becomes firmer when required, such as in a corner or under braking.
Settings
The adaptive air suspension allows the driver to select the suspension characteristics according to individual preferences. There are three normal settings: comfort, automatic and dynamic, ranging from an extra-smooth ride to a firmer setting for more active driving. The offroad setting can be selecting when driving on rough surfaces. There is also a fifth setting, marked lift, which can be selected when extra ground clearance is required Link.
The desired settings can be selected using the MMI Link.
Caution!
  • When you park, make sure there is sufficient clearance both under the car and above the roof, because the height of the parked vehicle can change due to variations in temperature and loading or changes to the ride settings.
  • When transporting the vehicle by lorry, train, boat, plane, etc., it must only be strapped down on the tyres. It is not permissible to secure the vehicle by its axles, struts or towline anchorages, since the pressure in the air suspension can change during transport. Under certain circumstances there is a risk that the vehicle may not be properly secured.
Note
  • You must activate the jacking mode Link before the vehicle is lifted with the jack or on a lifting platform.
  • On some models the maximum speed will only be obtained in the automatic and dynamic modes.
