- Fig. 1 Detail of the luggage compartment: Switch for loading mode
Applies to vehicles: with adaptive air suspension
The rear of the vehicle can be lowered to facilitate loading.
Important: All doors on the vehicle must be closed.
Switching on loading mode via MMI
Select: Function selector button CAR > function selector button SETUP > Lower for loading.
The rear of the vehicle will then be lowered and the loading mode display will appear in the MMI.
Switch for loading mode
Open the boot lid.
Press the bottom part of the switch -3- Fig. 1. The rear of the vehicle will then be lowered.
Press the top part of the switch -1-. The rear of the vehicle will be lifted again.
The loading mode lowers the rear suspension to 55 mm below the normal height level.
The segments in the display appear only in outline while the loading mode is active.
The loading mode is cancelled automatically when a different mode is selected in the MMI or when the vehicle exceeds a speed of about 5 km/h.
If the system is temporarily out of action, for instance due to a lack of pressure in the air reservoir, the function Lower for loading will appear in grey lettering in the MMI display. The function will become available again in the display as soon as the normal operation of the system is restored.
The warning lamp -2- Fig. 1 in the switch in the luggage compartment flashes while the vehicle is being lowered. The lamp then stays on while the vehicle remains at loading height, and starts flashing again when the vehicle is raised out of the loading position.
Caution!
Before cancelling the loading mode, please make sure that there is sufficient clearance above the vehicle, especially if the boot lid is open.
Note
- The vehicle will not be lowered if one of the doors is open or if there is insufficient pressure in the air reservoir. In this case the warning lamp will flash three times.
- If necessary, the pressure in the air reservoir will be restored when the vehicle is driven at a speed of above 40 km/h. The vehicle can be lowered for loading when the pressure has returned to the normal level.
- If the loading mode is activated while the suspension is in the lift or offroad setting, the vehicle will first be lowered to the normal height level.
